SHERLOCK HOLMES 2

Jude Law, Watson in the Sherlock Holmes-lite movie from Guy Ritchie has told interviewers that the sequal to the hit film could be coming very soon -

"I think we are probably going to make another one," he finally said, "I haven't been given the absolute... it's not like next week but I think it's sometime this year." Jude Law

There have been rumours for a while that Pitt had been brought in to play Holmes' nefarious nemesis, Professor Moriarty, during additional shooting for the knockabout blockbuster, but while those rumours remain unconfirmed, it would appear that he is in talks to play the part in the sequel.

In fact, some insiders are telling The Hollywood Reporter that, if Moriarty does appear in Sherlock Holmes, that he's bathed in shadow and unrecognisable. But it makes sense for Warner Bros., Ritchie and producers Joel Silver and Susan Downey to build up to Moriarty in this way, a la Bond's Blofeld. And snagging Pitt to play him will be a major coup.

HOLMES RELATED - We can reveal that in the BBC's forthcoming series of modern day Holmes adaptations, the great detective will be without his iconic pipe. It's not politically correct to smoke these days and as these stories are set in the modern day it is felt Holmes would not smoke.

The Holmes dramas which have been written by Dr Who exectutive producer Steven Moffat, will aim to put a 21st century slant on the stories of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

The part of Sherlock Holmes will be played by Atonement star Benedict Cumberbatch and it is due to be aired later this year.

Mad, I tell you, the world's gone mad.

So the madness of the world is a how-many-pipe problem?
