A TREAT FOR BEATLE FANS AND RINGO SINGS AGAIN (gulp on the last one)

It's bound to be a collectors item - available nowhere else - next sunday The Mail On Sunday gives away a unique Paul McCartney CD. Titled Paul Sings the Beatles, the exclusive CD features Pual singing seven Beatle tracks. The songs are taken from the Amoeba show. This will actually be the second time the Mail have given away a Macca CD since last year they gave away, totally free the album - Memory Almost Full. And speaking of MACCA albums - the currently available Good Evening New York City is excellent - Paul performs live versions of Sing the Changes and Highway from the amazing Fireman album as well as lesser known Beatle classics like I got a Feeling. I'm not really one for live albums but this one rocks and has been spinning in my player since Christmas. Oh and maybe I should mention that Paul pays tribute to John and George by covering songs Something and Give Peace a Chance - and you know what it's not sickly sweet but an assured heartfelt performance.

And in other Beatle related news, Ringo Star is to release a new album (don't ask me why!). Apparantly this will be his first self produced album - The 10-track album includes a guest appearance by Paul McCartney who sings on the first single, "Walk With You," a song written with Van Dyke Parks about the power of friendship. The ex-Beatle also plays bass on "Peace Dream." Other contributors include Joe Walsh (Eagles), Dave Stewart (Eurthymics) Benmont Tench (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers), Edgar Winter, Joss Stone, Ben Harper, Richard Marx, and Gary Wright.
