WILD WEST MONDAY PRIZE WINNER IS....

The Tainted Archive's competition in association with BHE books
has been snapped up.

Here's Keith Chapman AKA Chap O'keefe with the announcement:

Tainted Archive follower and
Wild West Monday supporter Jack
had lots to
celebrate last week with the birth
of his fourteenth grandchild,
Amber.
Today, he has a little more. Jack is
picking up the £100 prize as the
winner of the Misfit Lil competition.

Ray Foster, aka western author Jack Giles, supplied
the correct answer
to the question "What is the link between Misfit Lil
and Boris Karloff?"
It was "Enfield Grammar School".

Here's how a savvy reader with the skills of an Indian tracker could
have clicked his way to the answer, following the sign in the five clues.

The clues were:

Education is a paramount trail to follow.

When casting around for sign, google a name and a keyword,
and explore
the links you find at the search results.

Online tracking is a breeze because everyone has access
to the world's
largest encyclopedia.

When considering ties, the "old school" option is a good one.

Savvy trackers are moving in on a place called Enfield.

The name to google was Boris Karloff ;
the keyword Education. At the
biggest online encyclopaedia, Wikipedia,
the Karloff entry gives the
names of the schools he attended, with links. A mouse-click leads to
Wikipedia's entry for Enfield
Grammar School. There, in the list of
"Notable alumni", are the names
of William Henry Pratt (aka Karloff) and
Keith Chapman (aka Chap O'Keefe).
The men behind the creations Boris
Karloff and Misfit Lil were both
old boys of the school.

So congratulations to Jack Giles
AKA Ray Foster and don't forget
tomorrow is Wild West
Monday and later we will tell
you how you can take part.

Thanks for re-running the Misfit Lil paperback's cover, Gary. UK readers might like to know that the book is now also listed online by WHSmith, who I believe still have bricks and mortar branches in most major centres. An "assignment" for WW Monday might be a call at one of these shops. If the assistant tells you they only stock Louis L'Amour and have never heard of Misfit Lil, it could be fun pointing them in the direction of their company's catalogue!

And everyone can read the opening chapter FREE at http://chapokeefe.webs.com
