Ebooks price to fall

Where America leads we follow so this is good news for readers everywhere - ok prices are expected to go down amid the rising popularity of e-books, irrespective of the federal government's decision to maintain restrictions on parallel imports.

An e-book (short for electronic book) or known as a digital book is an electronic text that forms the digital media equivalent of a conventional paper printed book.

"Because the cost of delivery is 20 to 30 per cent lower, e-books will . . . give more choice for the consumer," Richard Siegersma of DA Information Services said. Siegersma said the parallel import restrictions have "built-in barriers to entry, which have created inefficiencies" in the Australian book market. FULL STORY

I see now that the Kindle is available on amazon US for $259. I'm still debating whether I should get one - maybe once it falls below $100 I will. Don't say that will never happen - it happened to Blackberry(s).

I've been buying e-books for years and I thought they were already cheap at about $5 for a full novel. Although I suppose the costs come when you invest in readers, which I never have.

Yes, they seem fairly cheep, and there are so many free ones out there right now.
